Since 1974, it has become indispensable for the (inter) national blues landscape and still going strong in unchanged occupation: Barrelhouse. On Friday 13 September the band will be coming back to Amstelveen, a must-see for the blues enthousiast!
Since the first concert at Mahogany Hall in Edam (1974), Barrelhouse has enjoyed nothing more than performing. The collective has had played over 2000 concerts: clubs, pop halls, theaters, festivals - there is almost no stage where their blues have not sounded. Unique too, because the current line-up is still the original, always with the beautiful voice of Tineke Schoemaker. On the occasion of the 45th birthday, Barrelhouse also plays some of the older songs from the first album: think of 'Only a Fool', 'Every Night is Saturday Night', 'Beware' and 'I'm in the Mood', to name a few.
Support: Dave Warmerdam Band
The Dave Warmerdam Band consists of 5 young musicians who share their love for blues and jazz. Together they know how to bring great performances of time-honored and well-known blues classics, but also their own songs!
This band manages to effortlessly combine different styles and atmospheres into a sound that also appeals to a younger audience. The current show of the band is a journey through the age of blues and jazz. Respect for what it was but also room for innovation and personal interpretation. This band is a must for fans of blues, jazz and fusion.
